Gail Pastor was my friend since childhood.  We were roommates at the University of Michigan, and I spent her final months with her in Sherman Oaks California, where she passed on after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.  She was a health nut, and a dancer.   She took great care of herself and her family.   And she was so very brave.  She dressed herself everyday, ran her house, and saw friends, and shopped until the end, making the home she shared with my daughter Julie and I beautiful.  "Why are you doing this," I asked.  She was down to 89 pounds.  "For you guys," she responded.

She passed on in December of 1989, just beyond her 50th birthday, which she shared with a many friends, including Connie Lewis Lapin, Allen and Georgina Rothenberg, her ex husband Mike Schiff, and all the friends she had made, (there were so many) since she had moved to California after she graduated the University of Michigan.

She had a business as an interior designer, and had clients such as Sylvester Stallone.  She started a degree in Family Therapy, something like that, when she became ill.

She left behind 3 children, Scott, and attorney, who has two children, Amy, an acupuncturist who studied in China, who has a son, and Garrett, a screenwriter, who is successful at this profession, and has two daughters.

You might also remember her older brother Herbie, who created a casino empire in Las Vegas, and now lives in Thailand, her youngest brother Sidney.  Her middle brother Denny passed on at the age of 59 of lung cancer, although he never smoked or drank.

She was a very special person. She was an artist and a free spirit.  She is remembered.
