Sounds like same old, same old, but I am still living at 1757 Manchester Blvd. in Grosse Pointe Woods, married almost 43 years to Mirv. We have one two-year old granddaughter Madison Elizabeth who lives with her parents Chris and Lora in Ohio. Our other son (also Mirv) lives in Grosse Pointe.
I am still employed as director of the Detroit Garden Center (DGC), a small nonprofit located in downtown Detroit dedicated to gardening education through trips, tours, classes and outreach programs. The DGC participates in an outreach program at Alternatives for Girls, in their prevention program for girls in southwest Detroit. Fellow classmate Marilyn Citron has volunteered in the After School Program and will come again this summer to help with gardening projects.
My husband still owns and is active in his own business, Hayes Grinding, which has been in the family since 1870 and is located in Rivertown.
It seems a lot of my hobbies revolve around the garden…native plant gardens, gardening for butterflies, herb gardening, giving talks on the subjects, going on trips to see gardens, planting gardens at other places, belonging to the Herb Society of America, Wild Ones, Master Gardener Association, Belle Isle Botanical Society, Friends of the Detroit River, etc. Still love snowshoeing in the winter, and hope to get back to other pursuits someday and spend more time with our granddaughter.
