Ann was my college roommate at MSU and a bridesmaid at my wedding to Michael Caplan in 1960. Our sons were born close together and she and  I would take the boys in their buggies and strollers to walk at the Zoo, nearby Ann and Sid's house. After we left Detroit for Cincinnati, then Boulder CO, Ann and I were email friends. A few times a year we would catch eachother up on our lives.  I last saw Ann three years ago when we were back in Detroit to visit family.  Earlier this year when, after not having recieved responses to emails and texts, I contacted her son Dan and found out that she was living in assisted liviing with Hospice care. I was sad but not surprised when Dan called to tell me of Ann's death.

Ann was my very special friend from the time we were 5 years old.  As little girls we would get together at one anothers' homes to play, have sleepovers, and just be together.  We had a very special bond.

Through the years after elementary school we each moved to different neighborhoods and went to different schools, but always remained close and caring friends.  We were like family.  We stood up in one anothers' weddings, made parties and dinners together, had mutual friends socially, confided in one another, and always kept in touch even when we lived apart and traveled in different social circles.

When Len and  I moved to Portland, Oregon 8 years ago I spoke with her at least once a week. She was an extremely competant and caring person.  It was so sad when we realized that she was declining in her health and mental abilities.  She adored and trusted her children and was blessed to realize that they were making good decisions and taking good care of her.  I am happy to know that she was relieved to be able to give up managing her own life and hand the reigns over to her sons.  This is indeed a blessing.

My husband of 65 years, Leonard Sudakin,  died in February of this year.  We had been close with Ann and Sid throughout our lives.  So now, they are all gone, but we carry on our lives and have a lifetime of memories to treasure.

I am lucky to have been blessed to have a life long friend in Ann Gottlieb Weber.
