David was such a unique and enjoyable presence. We too a fencing class together at the JCC. Every female in the program fell in love with him! He lived life on his own terms and I'm glad I had the pleasure of knowing him.

Loss of a special human being. We were friends from camp North Star in 1948 and then through Mumford. Although I'm not a Saxon and our connection was distant and intermittent in later years, my fondness for David remains.
This is a tough one for me. I always knew her and still called her Betty Jean from our Hally elemtary days back in the early fifties. I guess we felt some kinship as we were both minorities among a few rough classmates. BJ walked to school from across Puritan and I from a block away on Grove. We've maintained our friendship over the years thanks to FB and reunions. She was so rightfully proud of her family, church members and children of friends, all of whom loved her through good and sometimes difficult times. Betty had a huge heart and loving spirit which she blessed with all who knew her. I'm very sad to learn of her passing but sure she's smiling down from above.
Sad news. Sandy was always a true gentleman and fine human being. High school friendships endure throughout life and his memory shall as well.
A friend for seventy years and always a cheerful supportive one. The funeral viewed via the website was quite moving and captured Bill's hearty loving spirit towards humanity. So sad to learn of his passing.
Shaarey Zedek Synagogue had a Mumford reunion on August 13, 2022. Mel Chinitz gave a d'var Mumford:

Sorry to hear the news of Phyllis' passing. We had planned to meet again as the Hally School contingent of our upcoming Mumford 65th reunion next summer. Gold and Goldman were close in grade school and near neighbors, she from Linwood and I, one street over on Princeton. In school I hadn't appreciated how adventuresome Phyllis was and only long afterwards learned of her travels and motorcycle outings. My condolences to her family and her friends who share our loss.

I went to elemantary school with Andrea and even then she was one of the kindest little girls anyone could ever know. We lost touch for awhile but then she reappeared in high school. Still incredilbly kindest but also incredibly beautiful! Although my husband and I moved out of Detroit in the 60's I've thought about Andrea many times over the years, especially when some of her amazing designs appeared in print. Years later we had a joyful reunion when we bumped iinto eachother on a street corner in Jerusulem! I send my heartfelt condolences to her family, she was very special .
