Cramped in his bright orange VW beetle, Ken and I started Med School together in 1960 at WSU. Before that during high school we did some biking and he was busy as a talented sax player with Mel Ball's band.
After our first year at Med School he was selected for a special research year between his freshman and sophmore years. We kept in touch, got married, skied together and later drifted apart during internship and residency years. We visited on rare occasions when he was doing pathology on the west coast and child psychiatry in New Hampshire. (Ken never sat still, smiled easily, and was a pleasure to be with.) I regret not contacting him during the past few years. Shirley and I will miss him.
